AI Overviews tracking tools: the 2026 list, with prices
Otterly, Semrush, Ahrefs Brand Radar and the free routes — what each one tracks, published prices checked October 2026, and the correctness problem none of them solve.
Google's AI Overviews answer buyer questions before your site loads, and "am I in them?" has become a tracking problem of its own. A small market of tools has grown to answer it. This is what is actually on the shelf, with published prices, and — just as important — what a tracker will not tell you even when it works.
Prices below were read from the vendors' own pricing pages on 2026-10-07. Tiers change; verify before you buy.
The dedicated tools
Otterly.ai — AI search monitoring built for marketing teams. Tracks brand mentions and links across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI surfaces. Plans: Lite $29/month (billed monthly; $25 annually), Standard $189/month, Premium $489/month, Enterprise custom from 1,000 prompts. Note the structure: Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude tracking are paid add-ons per engine ($9–$149/month depending on tier), not part of the base price. Good fit if you want set-and-forget prompt monitoring.
Semrush — bundles AI-search tracking into its plans rather than selling a separate product. The "SEO + AI Search" tier starts at $165/month billed annually ($199 monthly), a step above its entry SEO plan. Sensible if your team already lives in Semrush; overkill if you only want the AI part.
Ahrefs Brand Radar — an add-on to Ahrefs subscriptions. The AI Visibility Index starts at $50/month; prompt-level tracking starts at $199/month (83 prompts/day, 2,500 checks/month, all platforms), with an all-models tier at $699/month. Strongest when you already use Ahrefs for backlink data and want AI citations next to it.
Peec AI — Berlin-based, enterprise-leaning (its customers include media and consumer brands). Published per-seat pricing lands around €90–€499/month in third-party listings; the vendor sells on a call. We keep a price-checked ledger of the one-time alternative if you are comparing.
The free routes
Not everything needs a subscription:
- Google Search Console shows impressions for AI Overviews in Performance — the only source that tells you which of your own pages Google's AI features actually surfaced, because it comes from Google.
- Manual spot checks — ask the same 10–20 buyer questions in ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews once a month, in a clean session, and write the answers down. Crude, free, and it catches what a dashboard summary rounds off.
- Our own free check runs the technical pre-flight and shows the exact buyer questions a full measurement would ask — also free, no account.
What tracking cannot tell you
Here is the honest part. A tracker logs presence — did the brand appear, did it get cited, is the trend up. It does not check whether what was said was true.
In our published sample (a Nashville med spa, measured fresh), assistants made 14 clear factual errors across 333 checked claims — services the business does not offer, attributes it does not have — and produced 53 price quotes, of which 17 had no price on the business's own site to check against. Every one of those wrong answers would have counted as a "mention" in a tracking dashboard. Presence next to a wrong price is not visibility; it is a referral working against you.
So the useful order of operations is: measure whether the facts about you are correct first, fix the sources, and only then pay for cadence. A dashboard watching a wrong answer just means you find out about it every day instead of once.
One-time measurement vs monthly tracking
If you run one business at one location, the decision is mostly about cadence, and we have written the full ledger on one-time report vs monitoring. The short version: subscriptions earn their price when you log in weekly; a one-time audit, plus one check after your fixes, answers "where do I stand, and did the fix work" for a fraction of the first year's cost.
Start with the free check — all 30 questions in full, no account, no card.
What does AI say about your business?
The free check reads your site and shows you the exact questions we would ask — before you enter any card details. The full report is $4.99 once.
